Join us as we kick off the 10th Global Investigative Journalism Conference -- our first in Africa! We're excited that we have 1,000 extraordinary journalists from over 100 countries joining us. Come in, get seated, and we'll be quick with a few announcements and some advice on how to get the most out of this unique conference. 

The GIJC is a giant training event, designed by and for working journalists. We're interested in practical tips and techniques, not war stories and egos. Our sessions are a buffet of demos, workshops, and panels, so feel free to walk around and sample them until you've found what you're looking for. 

We're able to bring you all together because of a lot of help. From co-hosts GIJN and Wits Journalism, of course, but also many sponsors, donors, We have some great people we need to thank -- who made this event possible. So let us take care of some fast business and then we'll open things up for a great four days.
