More than 100 countries now have freedom of information (FOI) and right-to-information (RTI) laws. In this panel, experts from the EU, South Africa, India and the U.S. will describe success in making requests for government information using freedom of information laws. Tips and tricks will be shared along with practical ideas for fruitful inquiries. Among the case studies presented will be an EU-wide request by 29 journalists that revealed misspending by Members of Parliament. GIJN's global FOI resource guide will also be introduced.
