We all hope we can trusts our health care practitioners, the doctors and hospitals we rely on and the safety of the medicine that is available in our countries. We hope they follow the rules and regulations. But it does go wrong. And it often continues if not exposed. In this session three journalists that decided to dig deeper after hearing patients complain about wrong-doings. Were these incidents or more systematic? In Norway a young woman petitioned the court to release her from a psychiatric hospital so she could take her own life. She had spent the majority of the last two years tied down in a bed at a psychiatric hospital in Oslo. Journalists wondered how unique her story was: How often are patients being tied down and for how long? From Nigeria we have a harrowing story on a deadly maternity ward at a Nigerian hospital. The journalist wanted to know why there was a rise in cases of maternal deaths. These journalists will also talk about the impact of their work.
