A blizzard of fake news and propaganda has descended on the world's media, distorting public debate and causing a credibility crisis for legitimate journalism. We've seen from Brexit and the  Trump campaign to the Kenyan elections what serious impact this can have. The actors range from political propagandists and fast-money infowarriors to government-sponsored troll factories.

What are the best strategies to fight back against this torrent of misinformation? How can investigative journalists keep their credibility and compete with people who lie and propagandize for a living? Here are journalists on the front lines in Latvia, the Philippines, South Africa and the U.S. who are dealing with this pressing issue.
