Environmental crime and wildlife smuggling are among the most profitable
criminal activities in the world. They pose a growing danger to the
survival of certain species. These speakers have chased down reptile
smugglers, rhino- and elephant poachers and dealers in illegal rosewood.
Their investigations often take months, sometimes years, and brings them
to different countries and continents. They use old-school methods, like
undercover journalism, and inventive ways to catch their prey, the
smugglers and poachers: Bryan Christy for example designed fake elephant
tusks armed with satellite-based GPS. In this session they reveal how they
dig into the whole chain of environmental and wildlife crime.
