Alec Klein is an award-winning investigative journalist, bestselling author and professor at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications. Klein is also the director of The Medill Justice Project (www.medilljusticeproject.org).

For two decades, Klein worked as a newspaper reporter, including several years as an investigative reporter at the Washington Post, until the summer of 2008 when he joined the Medill faculty as a professor. He previously worked at the Wall Street Journal, the Baltimore Sun and the Virginian-Pilot. His investigations have led to significant reforms, congressional hearings, federal law, criminal convictions and more than half a billion dollars in government fines. Under Klein’s leadership, the renowned Medill Justice Project has set innocent people free, impacted legal proceedings throughout the country and successfully challenged government agencies to abide by the First Amendment. He gives speeches and conducts workshops throughout the country and abroad on investigative reporting and other issues.
