Gerald Tenywa Magumba is a senior reporter at New Vision, a daily newspaper in Uganda. As an investigative journalist, he has been reporting for the last two decades on wildlife, ivory trafficking, forests, wetlands, pollution, oil, land, water and climate change.

He has won 20 awards, including the Ozone Africa Media Award in 2011 given by UNEP (2011), CNN Media Award (Environment)-2012 and the Nile Media Award in 2015. He takes matters of the environment in a passionate way, and has covered most of the big stories on climate change and trafficking of wildlife trophies including stealing of ivory from government stores. He would like to cover more investigative stories on the environment through documentaries and films, most of which have been self-taught. He believes he can do better with formal training and projects on investigative reporting. He also mentors young reporters interested in reporting on the environment and extractives such as oil and minerals.
