Juliana Ruhfus is an award-winning investigative journalist, filmmaker and producer of interactive journalism projects. She has been the senior reporter for the Al Jazeera English "People & Power" strand for which she has made nearly fifty films since her film on Liberia launched the channel’s programming content in 2006.

Keen to broaden the audience reach for investigative journalism Juliana started experimenting with interactive storytelling and produced the multi-award winning "Pirate Fishing - Interactive Investigation" which was followed by "Hacked - Syria's Electronic Armies". She is currently working on an open source Google DNI funded storytelling tool for newsrooms.

Having frequently worked in areas of conflict and unrest Juliana has a strong interest in journalism that deals responsibly with violence and tragedy. Her work has been awarded with the Ochberg Fellowship and a scholarship for Harvard's Global Trauma Programme and she is now serving on the board of the Dart Centre Europe and the advisory board for the International Bar Association eyeWitness project.

Prior to Al Jazeera Juliana worked as a freelance reporter/ producer for Channel 4, BBC, WDR, NHK and other international broadcasters. She has also worked in an investigative capacity for NGO's and twice as a consultant to the UN Security Council monitoring the arms embargo on Somalia.
