Susan Comrie is a journalist with the amaBhungane Centre for Investigation. She has been part of the team working on the massive trove of emails and documents known as the Gupta Leaks. Her investigations have shown how the Gupta companies have been gifted lucrative and highly irregular coal and consulting contracts with the state power utility Eskom, how global software giants including SAP entered into kickback agreements with Gupta companies to secure contracts from the state rail company Transnet, and how the Guptas used letterbox companies to launder kickbacks worth R250-million. Prior to joining amaBhungane she worked for the Sunday newspaper City Press and investigative television programme Carte Blanche. She was recently named Sanlam Financial Journalist of the Year.
